Free Tasting: Alternative Packaging!

  • Salt & Bubbles 19 Essex Way Suite 412 Essex, VT, 05452 United States (map)

You might be skeptical about wine that comes in boxes, cans, or bags. We don’t blame you! There’s a lot of ick out there. BUT we love alternatively packaged wine at Salt & Bubbles. The options we carry are definitely not Franzia Sunset Blush. They’re high-quality, organic wines that come sans glass. (Yes, you can still slap the bag).

Did you know!?…

Traditional wine packaging is a big (if not the biggest) contributor to climate change by the wine industry!

As a natural wine shop and bar we talk a lot about pesticides, additives, and all sorts of other things, but let’s talk about glass!

Glass is hard to recycle and often ends up in a landfill even when it should’ve been recycled.

Glass is heavy! Heavy bottles = more gas needed to transport = higher price paid  both financially and for the environment.

1 traditional wine glass contributes 675 grams of CO2 per liter! 1 boxed wine like the ever so fabulous Sandy Giovese (pictured above) contributes ONLY 70 grams of CO2 per Liter! It holds 4 bottles, stays good for 1 month after opening, and it tastes great!

The real truth is sustainable and alternative packaging is the way of the future for natural winemaking! Just look at producers like Scribe and Matthiason putting wine in cans!

So what are you waiting for!? Put us down in your calendar for a free tasting this coming Friday night from 5 - 7pm to taste through some boxed, canned, or pouches of wine!
