When we think of Italian wine and famous Italian wines, there are some heavy hitters we immediately think of in regards to grape varieties - Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Pinot Grigio, Trebbiano, etc. However, Italy is home to one of the largest varieties of indigenous winemaking grapes of any country on earth (to the beat of over 2000!). In this class, we will be focusing on some of our favorite lesser known grapes of northwestern Italy in the land of Piedmonte. The undersung heroes of local viticulture to the area that turn out wonderfully expressive and unique wines that we can't get enough of.
